Helping Kids Catch A Thought Before It Catches Them

Catching Thoughts: Faith & Focus Baseball is an interactive, faith-based game that teaches children how to identify negative thoughts, understand their emotions, and respond with truth - rooted in Romans 12:2

What Is Catching Thoughts?

Catching Thoughts is a baseball-themed emotional awareness game designed to help children understand how their thoughts shape their feelings and behavior.

Created by Christian transformation coach Jayne Boggs, this hands-on game gives kids a simple, practical framework for mind renewal they can actually see, move through, and remember.

This isn’t just a game.

It’s a training system for identity, resilience, and faith in action.

Why This Game Matters

Children today face anxiety, fear, self-doubt, comparison, negative self-talk, and identity confusion.

Most children are never taught how to manage their thoughts.

Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

— Romans 12:2

Catching Thoughts turns that biblical principle into something children can practice in real time.

Because when you teach a child to catch a thought early, you don’t just improve behavior — you shape identity.

How Catching Thoughts Works

Every round begins with a real-life situation a child may be facing: a failed test, a friendship issue, feeling left out, fear before a game, embarrassment, or anxiety. From there, players physically run the bases..

Home Plate - The Situation

What is happening right now?

Children learn to pause before reacting.

First Base - The Identity Thought

What am I telling myself?

  “I’m not good enough.”

  “I always mess up.”

  “No one likes me.”

  “I can’t do this.”

They learn to name the thought instead of being controlled by it.

Second Base - The Feeling

How does that thought make me feel?

Sad. Angry. Afraid. Embarrassed. Discouraged.

Thought → Feeling

Third Base - The Behavior

How do I respond when I believe that thought?

Withdraw. Shut down.

Overreact. Give up.

Thought → Feeling → Behavior

Back to Home Plate -

 Replace with God's Truth

What does God say?

What truth replaces the lie?

  “I am loved.”

  “I am growing.”

  “God is with me.”

  “I can learn.”

New Thought → New Feeling →

New Response.

When you change the thought, you change the outcome.

Real Life Application

Catching Thoughts helps children recognize negative thinking, understand their emotions, replace lies with truth, and build emotional resilience through movement, discussion, and repetition.

A Moment I’ll Never Forget

A Moment I’ll Never Forget

During one of my early sessions using Catching Thoughts, after we had run the bases together and talked through a situation he was struggling with, a little boy looked up at me very seriously and said,

“You’re going to be famous.”    I smiled and gently asked him why he thought that.

He said,  “Because this is going to help a lot of kids.”

In that moment, I felt confirmation.

Children know when something is helping them.

They know when they feel seen.

They know when they finally understand what’s happening inside their mind.

This was never about attention.

It was always about impact.

When a child realizes they can catch a thought, replace it with truth, and respond differently…

That changes more than behavior.

It shapes identity.

And identity shapes a lifetime.

At its core, Catching Thoughts: Faith & Focus Baseball by Jayne Boggs is a faith-based mental fitness and emotional intelligence game designed to help children—and the adults guiding them—understand how thoughts directly shape feelings, behaviors, and long-term identity. Built as a hands-on, baseball-themed learning system, the game walks players through real-life situations, teaching them to identify negative thought patterns, connect them to emotional responses, and replace them with truth-based thinking rooted in biblical principles like Romans 12:2 . This structured “thought → feeling → behavior” framework functions as both a personal development tool and cognitive training system, helping address challenges such as anxiety, self-doubt, and emotional regulation. More than a game, it operates as a repeatable mindset training model used by parents, schools, coaches, churches, and therapists to build resilience, confidence, and identity alignment—making it a powerful resource for mental health awareness, spiritual growth, and performance-based life coaching every where children reside.
